Three ladies have put up a note in the Civic Centre. Thought I´d share it with you, and maybe husbands and children in immigrant families can pass it on to wives and mothers? Thanks, – Maja
COOKING GATHERING FOR IMMIGRANT WOMEN.
Are you interested in cooking and want to share your knowledge with women from other countries?
We are three women from Chile, Kurdistan and Kenya who meet once a month to cook together. Would you like to join us? We have been allowed to use the kitchen in the Civic Center every two weeks, and plan to start a «cooking gathering» on a regular basis. Come and meet us!!
It´s positive that they are doing this, but I don´t know if their husbands are the right people to address, Maja. They will probably not let their wives leave the house.
I read an article where this Muslim man said he may hit his wife to teach her obedience. If she does not follow the sayings of her husband and the laws in the Koran, it is the duty of her husband to correct her with the means to disposal, he said.
This upsets me a lot! Is this a common behaviour of muslim men?
my dad would never do such a thing! you can´t judge a whole communiy because some old fashion muslims treat theyr wives badly. in our family we respect our mother more than anyone
You are stigmatising a whole group of people, Anonymous
It doesn´t mean there are not problems of this kind in your neighbourhood. Working in the social services in our town for twelve years I have experienced a lot of sad stories, and the last years it has worsened. Now I´m talking in general and not about your neighbourhood, but don´t ignore this problem in fear of being blamed of being racist. In any ways, we should welcome this kind of initiative which comes from the immigrant women themselves and give them an important social arena.
I wouldn’t hire a woman with a hijab. Most of the hijab wearers THINK they are free, but they are just controled by the men. Anybody in their right mind would NOT want to wear a head bag in the summer weather. Stupid women
WHY do you always have to make a problem of everything! We are invited to do some cooking together! Not bombs! For Christ sake, let’s come together and share our receipts, hints and tricks. -If you want to learn how to cook coconut chocolate, I can teach you. No sparkling bomb, just a taste of heaven: )
thanks for sharing, ytrobret (which planet are u from anyway??!)
So what exactly is your opinion, Trueasyrider? Life is not only about doing tricks on a bike, I wouldn´t hire you unemployed, bicyclefreaks either, if that´s what you mean.
who said i´m unemployed and who are u to think ur better than other people.
Sounds like a great way of meeting, Angelita! Can we come and have a taste?
